been trying to internalize the idea that disagreeing with friends about something deepens your understanding and expands your empathy for different views and experiences outside of your own. Having the trust that you can debate something without it ending the friendship will lead to more interesting conversations and a more substantive relationship. And having these conversations in person so you can see all the nuance and care for each other. It takes work, but I think it's worth it.

i wish people were better at this. big sign of emotional maturity i think is when people are actually capable of this. things happen and if you can’t talk them through what are you meant to do? just let it stew so it gets worse? let it destroy a relationship for no reason? fuck all that. have the conversations so you can reach an understanding. we can’t read eachothers minds man

sometimes you gotta talk shit to process but often I think we talk too much shit…. At the end of the day we’re all human beings who are trying the best with what they’ve got. if someone is annoying you/acting mean/unkind it’s most likely all connected to a larger system that did not set them up for success. Instead of shit talking the rude waiter, celebrity drama, your friends annoying partner— let’s break down systems that are holding us all back!!!! or the systems that are probably holding that person back! Let’s give grace to humans and question the larger systems that generate more trauma and disconnect! that’s how we generate more love and compassion and move things forward
some of my favorite systems to talk about are:
•industrialized food and food accessibility
•consumerism/overconsumption (and the connection to social media & celebrity culture)
•hustle culture
•politics/2 party system
•cars/walkable cities/big oil
•big dairy
•Christianity

Fake that ego until it’s real. your inner voice is an insanely loving mother that only sees the good. it may feel silly at first… but you are as capable as anyone, so let yourself believe that you are! isn't that the first step in getting anything you want?

I took my 87 year old grandma to her first figure drawing class where she created this. she usually focuses in water color but half way thru the class we swapped supplies (my markers for her water colors) and she made this. i love her and the memory I have when I look at it
