and it’s not even close. this family comedy was so special to me during my childhood— I remember so many of the shenanigans in such vivid detail. the drama is hilarious when you’re a kid and probably even more hilarious when you’re an adult. one of my fav scenes is the mom telling everyone about the snow outside but no one is even paying attention bc of this thing they’re watching on tv— ik my description is not making it sound all that funny but it just reminded me so much of my family dynamics. anyway idt I’ve ever heard ANYONE recommend this movie outside of the family who showed it to me, but it’s probably my favorite ghibli film after spirited away. would love to know if anyone else enjoyed this movie!! (okay whisper of the heart is pretty good though)

one of my favorite movies ever… it’s about a girl discovering herself, what she wants to do and how to get there. It’s so delicate and human It’s also top animation, Tokyo in the 90s, cat themed, and you got the realest most sweet romance you will want to throw up while watching it I’ll stop now but I could write a book about this movie… maybe i feel specially connected to this film bc im also lost at life but still a ghibli must watch

My favorite work from Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli, as well as one of the first anime I watched when I was a kid and didn't even know what anime was (the first was Pokemon lol). The nostalgia is real but I connect with this film so much more in my late twenties. When I think of Howl's Moving Castle, I think of love and just how life-changing it can be when you meet someone new who ends up being someone important and special. When people are positive influences on each other and they are for the better from having met and maintaining those bonds. Quite frankly, I live for this shit. This is ofc most evident between the two leads Howl and Sophie, but it's not exclusive to them. I also think of just how goddamn beautiful and magical this movie is to watch, but that's pretty par for the course when it comes to Miyazaki/Ghibli :)
