i fear that one day all these online movie streaming sites are going to either remove the movies i love or just eventually become obsolete to some other, newer form of movie-watching.
so ive started collecting the movies i love on dvd. if i ever see one in a thrift store, it’s in my hands neooow.
plus, i love having my own copy. it feels like an homage to myself.

scoured the internet for two weeks trying to find a beautiful old danish movie that literally doesn’t exist online.
finally found a comment on facebook that mentioned the movie, messaged the person (a sweet old lady), walked her through the process of burning her dvd into a copy and getting it processed into a digital file to send to me.
It was such an archaic file type that I had to download old software that probably gave my computer viruses but it was the best movie ever and i would do it again
now watching netflix feels too easy

1 day into building a dvd collection because I got kinda freaked out by the idea of AN ENTIRE MOVIE being lost to time. On a more positive note, McCabe & Mrs. Miller and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark are now in my possession. What other movies do I absolutely need?

YESS, great. i think that, although they can sometimes be weird and uncomfortable and, at times, really really boring, it’s kinda nourishing, for lack of better term, to watch old movies! i feel like a lot of the media that’s being made today, or atleast the most widely advertised media, is really not done with the intention of making something new and better than what came before. I partake in social media and all that jazz, and sometimes there are really great things made by people today, even if they require a bit more looking for, but the feeling of watching a good OLD movie is simply unbeatable. if u wanna movie rec, ASK cause I’ve got plentyyyy 💅

planner, agenda, whatchamacallits — draw in them!!!
i love having a hand-drawn snapshot of the day. the drawings do not have to be good at all (clearly…), just something to spark your memory so that when you look back at your year, you remember what you were doing. waaay better than only writing the event in the planner in my opinion :>

working at a library, i sometimes stumble across things people leave in books (typically as bookmarks)
here are some highlights:
- a small canvas painting of a family (presumably done by a child)
- an Italian stamp, issued 1938 (?)
- a joker from a deck of cards, and then subsequently the other joker from the same deck of cards in a different book
- a gun wrapper folded around the top of a page as if it were one of those magnetic bookmarks
- various pokémon and magic the gathering cards (albeit, more pokémon than magic cards)
- and a leaf.
