I LOVE THIS FILM!!! One of the most tactile movies I've ever seen, it captures the nuances of living in a city so specifically that every corner of the film feels so lived in and real. I've never lived in nyc (but I do live in another major city), yet I can still feel how thoroughly this film captures the unique aspects of NYC that set it apart, while still conveying the chaotic nature shared by most cities. It understands the transitory moments in life that we rarely look back on: seeing buskers perform in cramped spaces, small talk with street vendors, people-watching, getting into awkward conversations with grandparents. It's a movie about situationships, pickles, annoying writers, and love. Amy Irving is absolutely radiant, and I have the biggest crush on her now.
