Okay this is a hard one to think of. I just gave Bull in the Heather a listen and itā€™s very 90s grunge, but I think uniquely still a very calm cadence. Vocally she kind of reminds me of Hole, maybe some songs like Violet or even Doll Parts off the Live Through This album would work, but I feel like Hole does build up in the song a little more. Possibly Cannonball by The Breeders? Itā€™s one that is very quintessential 90s to me also.

Yess Doll Parts! I haven't revisited that song in ages but you're so right. And yes to the Breeders also, Last Splash especially carries so much weight for me. Thank you for your consideration :)

i think you would like the feminine complex. a band from the 60s who were ahead of their time in some ways so it may satisfy the vintage craving of yours. in terms of tone, you may also really enjoy newdad. the song blue in particular gives me immunity vibes in a way. kate bollinger also blends the vintage and pensive pop worlds really well, so check her out if you haven't already. yards and gardens + who am i but someone are great tracks to start with. mind shrine often have a silky 60s/70s thing going on i feel like i remember her playing some wendy & bonnie on an nts set of hers once! i recommend the song five o clock in the morning! hey there lonely boy by ruby and the romantics maybe isn't as clairo adjacent as the other recs, but a solid gold oldie for sure!

Something about when it starts getting really hot makes me wanna listen to very specific types of music: MPB, JĆ¹jĆŗ, Highlife, Yacht Rockā€¦ but my go-to late Spring/early-Summer music vibe has been ā€˜90s/early ā€˜00s twee pop, specifically Tiger Trap, Gaze, Cub and Brittle Stars. None of these bands are new to me, but Iā€™ve been revisiting their music a lot lately. Thereā€™s a rudimentary innocence to all of their music that really inspires and comforts me. Plus some of it just feels really punk to me ā€“ namely Tiger Trap. I love Tiger Trapā€™s one-and-only album from 1993, Gazeā€™s Shake the Pounce, Cubā€™s Betti Cola, and literally anything by Brittle Stars.

So we all think itā€™s sketchy that Tik Tok is already back right? And that they posted a statement kissing Trumpā€™s ass and making him out to be the one saving Tik Tok when he isnā€™t even sworn in yet? And now Trump wants the US government to have a 50% ownership, aka turning Tik Tok into state owned media just like I thought was happening. And Iā€™m sure most people wonā€™t be able to stay away from Tik Tok and Meta which is so disappointing. I want nothing to do with Tik Tok now because I know the app as we knew it is already gone at this point.

Thereā€™s something about the quality of digital camera photos that make a picture of anything you take look more pleasing (to me anyway). The nostalgia, the saturation, I love them. I have a couple cameras that still work from when I was a kid, but I also bought one on eBay that was similar to one that used to be a favorite of mine. I just throw it in my purse and take it everywhere, and itā€™s so much more fun than trying to get the ā€œperfect shot,ā€ especially now that Iā€™ve deleted Meta and gone with Pixelfed it seems that people love posting anything from the little things they see or their drinks. Itā€™s making photo sharing fun again! Although, if you do download Pixelfed (which isnā€™t the point of this post but) I highly recommend using it in your browser on your phone for now, theyā€™ve already made things run smoother from when I first downloaded but theyā€™re definitely still working on the app.

So many people are so scared to do things on their own, but it can be so fun and liberating! Iā€™m my own favorite travel partner. You can try fun places without worrying about what someone else is in the mood for, meet so many people, people watch, read, visit museums Or other stops and take all the time you want, etc. I think a lot of people care too much about what others think when theyā€™re seen doing something or dining alone, but in the grand scheme of things it doesnā€™t matter. Starting out, go to a restaurant that has a bar and sit at the bar, you can enjoy your food and maybe a drink, if you get anxious about people talking to you or arenā€™t having fun people watching, take up watching the sports on the tv to look occupied! Or maybe your solo outing could first be taking yourself on a museum date and getting to spend as much time as you want in each exhibit.
