i recently began to ask myself why am i using all these apps and do i really need all of them, and i started realizing that the things iā€™ll miss out with these apps is so much more than without them, i knew i had the idea that my worth was tied to my online presence and iā€™m happy that iā€™m getting rid of that mentality.. i had so many memories in my snapchat account but i ended up deleting the account and the app because if i didn't do it than i may never, later that day i removed my twitter accounts and the app from my phone and iā€™m so glad i did, and i replaced them with healthier and less time consuming apps till i decrease my screen time gradually

Unlike generations before us, people don't have free third spaces. A third space being "a public spotĀ whereĀ youĀ connect with others over aĀ shared interestĀ orĀ activity, outside of home and work". Socializing is expensive and oftentimes unsafe. Shops meant to encourage interaction will target you if you fail to make a purchase. Loitering is crime and directly tied to capitalism. Thus, social media has become a cheaper, more accessible third space. --- But I too am tired of certain social media apps because of people's obsession with being platforrmed. We should simply enjoy each other's company. Everything shouldn't be monetized.

Deleted tiktok and finished three books in a week. I shouldā€™ve deleted the app sooner. Itā€™s actually so insane how ingrained tiktok scrolling has been in my daily routine. without the app I was just scrolling through the most random apps ever, then realized like damn this is a problem šŸ˜ I miss it bad but I also donā€™t need it. Twitter is next šŸ™ I need to fill my time with productive and fulfilling activities, no more mindless scrolling ā€¼ļø

ever since I got this app iā€™ve been feeling like i should get rid of instagram altogether. recently, iā€™ve been feeling that even more. i get so overwhelmed on that app. i feel like i see too much of everything! and theyā€™re constantly explaining why everything in our lives is killing us or that iā€™ve ā€œbeen doing X wrongā€œ my whole life. and there are a few good moments every now and then, but i feel like they donā€™t outweigh the mental toll it takes on me. ive deleted instagram before for social media detoxes, but this feels like it might be a bit more permanen. anyway, thatā€™s all. just wanted to share!
