the internet use to be a place in your house that you got to visit for a couple of hours after school. this year, i've been treating social media like a place in my home that i visit from my computer. not something that i carry around all day and allow to pollute my real life. i know this is nothing new but highly recommend for anyone struggling with being chronically online and feeling the mental toll of it.

Going online used to be an activity you sat down to and then could get up and walk away from. Now it’s some kind of panopticon that we’re connected to almost 24/7 that requires our constant availability and can demand our attention whenever it wants. We weren’t meant to be this online!!!! Actual pic from my personal archives (playing Unreal Tournament with a new 3dfx graphics card circa 2000)

much better than independent phone time with friends, computer time beckons us to an era lost to the sands of time... when i would sit at the desktop in the "office" of my childhood home and play games and social media hours were confined. i'm currently sitting in a papasan chair and having computer time while my roommates each have computer time (one on couch, one on barstool). the ambience is more than ideal.

went on a photo walk today and met some really lovely people. going to push myself to attend more lowkey events with like minded people because making new friends in adulthood, sadly, takes effort.
