BOOK CLUBS! I just started a book club with a friend today and even tho the idea has only been in the air for a couple of hours I LOVE IT! It has brought so much joy into my life! Maybe we need more community building opportunities?

society is definitely in need of more community now more than ever. the need for individuality was needed to “find” ourselves but i truly do believe you can always ”find” yourself in groups. i love that you opened up a book club, do you ever see yourself starting an online book club to expand and reach to others?

Onyi_Budds could not agree more! Community & community building are important in our society! Yes! You definitely do learn more about yourself in community spaces. it also helps you grow & its nice seeing how others communicate/interact within the space. the idea of an online bookclub does sound really cool! & something I would love to start or be a part of someday. I do think the only issue I would have would be scheduling time to meet that fits everyones agenda but definitely not out of the picture.

Me and two other friends started one in October and we’re already on our 5th book! I LOVE book club. Reading is sexy, and it’s sexy to talk books If you do it with friends, I recommend “round robin” when deciding the book of the month. We have an order of who gets to choose the book and it divides the duty of picking a book plus it’s fun to be exposed to books we wouldn’t have normally picked up!

greenfriedrice 5 books since OCT! That’s amazing! Reading is SO SEXY! Oo okay! I’ll suggest it! definitely agree it’s cool to lean and read books you normally wouldn’t pick up. Also I feel that you can learn so much from someones choice of book(s).

i've been playing around with the idea of doing a cookbook club, similar vibes to book club but choosing a recipe from the book and then doing a dinner party potluck night.

I am apart of about 3 different book clubs between work and my friends. I have a hard time picking out books to read so it helps to just have one set up, and it’s nice to have a chat about the books. they are super easy to join too :) or just make one with your friends

Friday night I went to a book club even solo and ended up having some good chats with the people I met there. It’s always nice having friends to go to things with, but sometimes it’s limiting because you end up just talk to each other all night and not meeting fellow folks with similar interests!

I moved to a new city during covid and times were tough here for a while, but this is what worked for me: - befriending your coworkers (sometimes they’re really cool and will become your bff, most of them time they’re fine to occasionally hang w) -being a regular at a coffee shop, bar, or concert/show venue (hit up the familiar faces and they’re likely to introduce you to their crew as well) -bumble bff (kind of the worst but also fun- I met a few of my close friends on here who then introduced me to their friend groups. Mostly great interactions but be weary of some ppl trying to use it as a sly dating tool) -get involved in the community! i host a book club and I play soccer on a local rec team. I’ve met so many people that I would’ve probably never encountered otherwise through Bookclub- don’t be afraid of multigenerational friendships! With soccer, I’ve met such a diverse crowd and it’s encouraged me to attempt to learn Spanish. It’s nice to be able to get a group of ppl together and play/practice when you all have a night free, or go and watch a game! If you’re sporty, you can also invite your new sporty pals out for runs, hikes, or other workout type activities!

Why are we not skipping everywhere? It’s so much fun and just shows a good attitude towards life! Like skipping to class, while listening to music in the park! Make life feel like la la land (not the movie)!

I recently deleted instagram along with all my meta apps and TikTok due to them being owed by billionaires or being used to benefit them. And as much as I hate to say it… I fell lost? But how has an app become such a large part of my identity 🤮? I know morally it’s the right thing to do (at least for me) but what do I do w so much “free” time. Maybe it’s the idea of sitting w my thoughts that’s so bothersome? Also why am I having a mental breakdown over not sharing my life or FOMO?
