it’s such an intimate act that requires a certain level of trust and honesty between the two parties! thankful to know they got my back

id also like to add that as a queer person, hair is so important in gender expression (had this conversation with my friend the last time she cut my hair) and having people you can rely on to see your vision and execute it perfectly feels like such a perfect example of community

nanabo i will say there have been many times where a friend has messed up a little, but i’m happy to take that L for a little if it means they get to learn and we get to have bonding time 🫂

it is fun and intimate and also even if it’s not perfect they can’t possibly hate it because a) they love u and b) it was free!!!!!

something about facing away from someone as you’re talking forces you to reveal more of yourself. An age-old and intimate act of care... very recc’d.

It’s a practice in trust and loyalty. Usually he cuts your hair just great, shapes your head, the length is all perfect. He gets every last follicle down perfect and you leave the salon walking around like you own the street you just stepped out to. But then one day he just cooks you, and not even one #whiteboyweek (waiting for it to grow out so it looks normal) will save you. Its so cooked you grab some scissors and learn how to shape up your sides yourself. But anyway, Im off to get my hair cut by that same MF now. Because I still trust him w my life.

Why is this such a lost art? Bring together those friends that would never have met other wise. Make the people you love, love each other. I recently had a small birthday wine n dine with my friends and anticipated awkwardness between my different groups of friends, but it was the complete opposite. God I love my friends and love making a space for them to mingle and laugh in eeeee. I think in a time where my friends and I are transitioning to adulthood and focusing on careers, this brings something to look forward to and a way to create a world outside of work and study.
