Iā€™m not sure about the exterior - maybe an old apartment in Paris or NYC, maybe a traditional little house in coastal Italy, maybe something else entirely. Inside, to sum it up, eclectic. Furniture and decorations Iā€™ll have gathered over the years, the best things will have a story behind them. Thereā€™ll be books in every single room, and somewhere to actually sit and read them. While Iā€™m at it, same goes for music, record players or a radio or an instrument in every room. Stationary and arty stuff everywhere, too, Iā€™d like to be able to create as soon as the mood hits. Also, a really nice tv with shelves near it that will hold an extensive DVD collection - physical media everywhere! Pictures on every wall, regardless of if they have any sort of relevance to each other, just whatever I think is cool. Plates and mugs and cutlery and stuff will all be mismatched, the only common theme being ā€œI think itā€™s cuteā€. Plants everywhere. Warm lighting, preferably mostly ambient. Plenty of blankets and cushions and rugs (all the floors will be wood or tile, no carpet). Some sort of cool feature, like a balcony, or maybe a window seat. Oh my god, the things Iā€™d do to have a balcony!! Completely maximalist, but in a balanced way - cozy, not overwhelming. Nice windows, also. The vibe is teenage girl meets chic grandma, but also the kind of thing my friends would see and say ā€œomg thatā€™s SO you!!ā€

All of my journeys and people iā€™ve met on the walls with unique furniture iā€™ve collected that has found me throughout my life, warm and mainly reminiscent of my childhood home. No real aesthetic just life, lots of different patterns and plants on every shelf along with books and an abundance of physical media. Basically where I would want to be raised as a child. Keep in mind this is my final home I would take my last steps in not exactly my college apartment or something of my early days. Similar to Gilmore Girls home, or even the Call Me by Your Name house!

is will be combined with pink-green- brown as i love those color!! i will keep only warm lights around the house in a dim dark light. i want like a corduroy couch probably in brown and bunch of pillows and a projector instead of a tv. it will be filled by plants as well, thereā€˜s the green. and i actually love to have a big mirror in gold, and brown wood furniture.

This is going to be rambly because I don't have the architectual terminology, but I'm a fan of homes that combine inside and outside. Open windows, covered patios. There are probably better examples of this style, but this scandi one in Seattle that got an NYT write-up is a good example. It's a little too modern for my taste, but this photo really captures the mood I'm going for. I've become more and more intrigued by handmade homes. The Craftsman Builder is an amazing book studying these kind of houses in the West. Quincy Jones' home with its capacious living room and massive window/indoor trees has always spoken to me. Generally I'm happy with lots of wood grain in the interior and I love a low and long midcentury ranch, especially if it's tucked in some ferns.

Video someone you love whilst they talk. Record the sound of the birds singing at your grandparentsā€™ house, the sound of traffic in the distance. Write about literally anything, or even just make notes of what you think. Make shitty art, whether itā€™s poetry or painting or music. One day, youā€™ll be glad that you have more than just photos to remember your life by; thereā€™ll be evidence you lived.
