Made the recent decision to stop doom scrolling and find some cool websites. Overall, I can say the atmosphere is much more calming and the actual engagement needed creates a larger level of fulfillment than just watching a video.

about two weeks ago, i deleted all social media from my phone. tiktok, instagram & facebook. i truly think this was one of the best decisions i made. i find myself living my days a little less stressed and i find myself engaging in the world more. my biggest fear before deleting the apps was that i would be completely out of touch with the world. i did feel like that for the first week, but after the 'detox' i felt better. i still stay in touch with news, i use Reuters and NPR to stay up to date as they are pretty unbiased compared to other news outlets. often i go to a site called allsides where i can see how the news is being reported across the spectrum. every so often, i'll open instagram on my browser for a little bit and can really only stay on there for like 5 minutes. i no longer see the appeal and quite frankly it stresses me out to be on there. i am not ignorant to the things going on in the world, i have just found joy in finding out about things in a different way. i have linked the allsides website to this post, i think it's worth looking at because it is really interesting to see how different outlets report things.

Is it just me or social media is slowly but surely starting to feel wholesome again? I might just be living in a bubble, but I feel like young people have started to realize the harm of excess scrolling, prioritizing actual connections and taking time off from internet. With all the overflowing capitalism and advertising, people are starting to create their own communities free of that, take this site for example. Not quite the Wild West internet of the y2k but something else entirely, something more.. real. Authenticity is cool again.

The lo mein you eat straight out of the box once you take it out of the fridge? Amazing, delectable, a delicacy. Cold pizza that you eat at 3am because you're too tired to cook anything else? Much better than if you re-warm it. Personal opinion or do others agree?

I like this app because I can actually post what I want. I don't feel the need to rewrite my posts 200 times, or edit pictures. Hate comments are a thing of the past. I don't sit there looking at how many likes my posts are getting, and I no longer check to see how many followers I have consistently. I can simply post what I enjoy and find people who have common interests. I love it.

A peeling sticker. Not the one you don't take off out of pure laziness, but the one that you can't bring yourself to remove because of the happiness it brings.
