If you can withstand the occasional slur thrown your way by a teammate when your molotov just misses its mark by a couple feet, this is an incredibly rewarding strategic shooter that is super fun at the casual level - just don’t take it too seriously.
It’s an iconic game for a reason and worth checking out for its historical/cultural significance alone. It has retained its idiosyncratic features from an earlier age of computer gaming that makes it feel like a fresh change of pace from the slew of twitchy, bombastic, movement based games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, etc. For example, you have to stop moving to shoot accurately, there’s no sprint, slide, or dive, you have to put your gun away in order to throw a grenade. It’s slower, more intentional- and as such, it’s really able to dig into your mind.
I would recommend finding a friend who has played this game for years to help show you the ropes - there’s a high learning curve to start with, but overcoming each obstacle feels really substantive, like learning a new language.
