itā€™s not bed rotting to rest when youā€™re tired, run-down, or sick. I can feel where capitalist dogma has seeped into me every time I feel doubt or shame for how much time Iā€™ve spent in bed or doing very little, or the fear that Iā€™ll never be motivated to do anything again. itā€™s not true! inevitably after only 3 days of solid rest I naturally crave activity, projects, organization, work, and not as penance. rec for rest: screen time of any kind is not the rest Iā€™m talking aboutā€¦ weā€™re talking rest as a monotask.

i got suuuuper sick (like literally thought i was on my deathbed) with pneumonia for nearly a month from the end of last year into this year, and iā€™ve been struggling SO much with feeling guilty about still taking naps frequently and stuff. needed to see this rec!!! i know my body will be energetic when sheā€™s ready!

I literally just had a talk with a friend about that. It's like we lost the ability of being able to relax and actually just be, without pressure. I guess some of the nostalgia in the internet is about that as well. Times when our relationship with everything around us was not based on productivity and profit. Idk.

Seems simple but itā€™s important! Alone time is my favorite time. Some days are not for bettering yourself. Sometime you have to bask in the sun in the park, or rot in your bed while watching tv.

taking the time to make space for yourself and do activities that fill your soul are wonderful ways to recharge, but their very purpose is defeated if youā€™re too burnt out to even enjoy them. so take a beat and rest, like really get some good sleep, put the phone away and let your brain unload for a bit.
