by kurt vonnegut i spent so much of last year reading research based nonfiction that i forgot i could read for FUN and boy is this book a fkn ride quality, humorous science fiction written in the 50s. of course there are some unsavory snags because of the time period in which it was written, but all in all it's a fantastic cheeky commentary that feels as relevant today as it must've then. if u like sexy aliens, love (?) triangles, and anti-war comedy, this is a good one!

it takes so long to get into, with all those weird words, but it’s just a lotta fun and a cool read nonetheless. i’d also like to mentionnnnn that Le Carre, specifically A Spy Who Came In From The Cold, is great (though I haven’t finished it yet 😭 the writing is veryyyy gripping, and it’s got enough going on to keep you interested.) i’ve developed a penchant for older books/media, for no apparent reason loll, but yeah 😊😊

This is how you lose the time war is an amazing read! It‘s main driver is romance and is set in a si-fi world, and I loved it despite being not the biggest fan of either! It’s a short read and so worth it and is my go to book recommendation for anyone. It’s beautiful, gripping and just so well done, cannot recommend it enough!

Haven't read in a while and need something fun and easy? This book (and the two that follow it) are just about as easy and fun as reading sci fi can be. The concept is when you turn 75 you can choose to join the interstellar Colonial Defense Force and leave earth. How? Well there's a bunch of crazy shit that goes on. Fun action, fun politics, fun universe. I also usually cry at least once. Despite the name, plenty of women characters. Very much a product of the 00s.
