Probably the one I’ve listened to front to back the most! Feels very of electronic music from its era (a sort of teenage-internet 2014 feel) whilst also having some genuinely timeless house songs on there. Airglow Fires is an all timer.

Once more I can't recommend something without explaining why it's good in my world. I was introduced to the work of Louis Celestin a.k. a KAYTRANADA about five years ago, following the release of 'BUBBA', and I still remember my first impressions. His music seemed unique and catchy to me, which is why listening to '99.9%' was not put off for later. Since then, I've been among the fans waiting for the DJ's next work. 'TIMELESS' is a worthy addition to the artist's discography. The album sounds like a nighttime beach party attended by all your friends. That's exactly the feel of the album's comfortable, pleasantly cool, and fun atmosphere. It more resembles a colorful dream, and personally, it doesn't fit within the confines of tight clubs. Coupled with numerous guest appearances, Louis' music feels pleasant—it's not straining, but it also doesn't fade into the background. The album delights with unusual drum parts, for example in songs like 'Pressure' and 'Spit it out', as well as unconventional songs such as 'Dance (x4)', 'Drip Sweat', 'Stepped On', and 'Stuntin''. Each of them has elements that shatter your expectations of a standard house album. The only thing I would criticize about the album is the cover. Such a gloomy visual would have looked more harmonious on someone like Denzel Curry, rather than the upbeat Louis. Also, I personally missed the bold decisions in terms of arrangements. On '99.9%', there was a song 'VIVID DREAMS', which featured a very atmospheric bridge with a bass synthesizer that worked well in contrast with the rest of the song's groove. Or 'BUS RIDE', which couldn't really be called a dance song. On 'TIMELESS', such decisions are hard to find. 8.5/10

Make everything as easy for future you as possible. This might sound silly but it’s all about harnessing current time and energy and distributing it to future you who will be tired/lazy. For example, I make breakfast the night before so that in the morning it’s not as hard to get up at regimented times and start my day. I signed up for a gym that I have to walk past to go to work so I have no excuse not to go in. I’ll block my calendar out weeks in advance so I know exactly when I should be doing personal work/not. Lowering the barrier was the only thing I found that helps me stay strict to the lifestyle I wanted. Otherwise it was way too easy for me to blow it all off.

In an age where we ‘make’ so much stuff to live as content for entertainment I’ve been enjoying making purely for learning. An artist I want to learn about? I’ll make a video about it. An old film process I’m interested in? I’ll write a page or two on it. Learning through making has me much more engaged with the topic I’m interested in as well as allows me to create stuff without the burden of worrying if it’s good. It’s like adult homework. And you can do it about anything. Highly recommend.
