Taking bad pictures of the moon
everytime there’s a full moon or an eclipse, I force myself to go outside—even if it’s dark, even if it’s freezing—just to take a grainy little picture. A quiet little ritual

this!! i hate when i go to take a picture of the moon or fireworks and someone is like “iTs NoT gOnNa ShOw uP oN CaMeRa” like that not the point. i want a weird lighting grainy pic on my phone for me.

Pictures of the sun
I’m always trying to take pictures of the moon. I fail to capture its essence every time. The phone camera does the moon dirty. However (!!!!!!!) every now and then I take a picture of the sun and I am so pleasantly surprised. It always looks so shiny and a little bit ominous (when it’s somewhat cloudy out).

I love looking up at the stars every night, and it's one of those things that actually feels worth the snapshot. It feels cozy to recognize planets and stars (and our faithful friend Orion). It really never gets old for me, and even though the images aren't remarkable, looking back at them transports me to moments of simple special presence with myself.
