I don’t believe in ranking things- restaurants, albums, books, movies, athletes anything, top x lists whatever. I think it’s a waste of time honestly. Even with a completely objective criterion what’s the point. Would rather listen to and read people just talk about their favorite things and why they are special and meaningful to them- everyone has their own, interesting reasons. And this is a great place to do that!

I'm so like this but my best friend is studying accounting and obsessed with numbers and he must rank EVERYTHING, I think it's so interesting how he can draw comparisons between things and judge them against each other while I can only go "loveee this"

Our little meat brains just like adding numbers to everything. a review should just be for the vibes and maybe comparing stuff using your own internal measurements imo

Last night at a bar while talking up a band I love I caught myself putting a separate but related band down. On the way home it bothered me that I did that, and it’s still bothering me this morning. I wish I had just focused on the thing I liked and the things I like about it rather than putting down the thing I don’t. It didn’t make my point any clearer and it didn’t make me feel good. We’ve made such a currency out of putting things down, I wonder what would happen if we all spent a week only talking up things we like and left the things we don’t alone. We might sleep just a little better. P.S. the thing I like most about this space is that it’s built to support exactly this type of thinking and sharing.

It’s ok to be “basic” sometimes. Popular album, songs, and artists are popular for a reason!!! I’m kinda over the whole social judgment of liking very popular stuff. The desperate need to have individually and uniqueness is so exhausting to see, sometimes you can just like stuff because you like it!! Let people like things!!!!

And being put onto things. Art and culture is the most beautiful of human experiences and I've always craved a specific place where people share that belief.
