although i am not catholic, i am deeply guilty all the time so i see them as kin. any tom dick or harry can wear a cross necklace and not be a catholic, but that ash smack dab in the middle of someone's face lets me know they're serious about that self loathing shit

With all the quick motions and shocking happenings of the world, I've been taking refuge in the faith I was raised with. Not with a reactionary frame of mind, but searching for the empathetic section of the world I knew when I was younger. Before, I learned about the expansive evils of the world and the contradictory nature of mainstream Christianity and, in extension, Catholicism. I've left the church, but I still visit from time to time, mentally. The teachings of love and justice have given me solace in these trying times. As some rights are being stripped and opportunities limited, my first reaction has been to pray for the people affected. Sympathy is hardwired in my bones, but it's new that I physically get on my knees to recite and conjure a prayer. I've been told I'm having a "come to God" moment, but honestly, I feel I'm falling in love with an idealistic version of Catholicism. Something I can defer to when the logical and the skeptical sections of my mind are overworked with anguish. I feel it couldn't only be me feeling these emotions.

i had this french teacher who was so fucking annoying I swear to god, but after watching this movie I realized she was just extremely depressed. and then I was nice to her and she randomly became happier and better at her job. I love a good movie that changes your perspective!!!!! anyways so sad I cried both times I watched this movie, l love paul giamatti!

OMG it’s so amazing saiorse ronan and laurie metcalf were brilliant and their characters strained relationship made me cry like three times the first time i saw it. I saw it twice after that and cried both times. I love greta gerwig

tyleralex I have an idea for a feature. It would be nice to see if other people are active on the app. Maybe a little green dot you see on their profile, or something that says “active now“ or “active one hour ago”. Anyways thats all plz let me know what you think
