When others do this, I think it shows that they have an unfixed way of seeing the world around them and don't adhere to limiting mindsets that can cause more harm. For example, saying "She's old and beautiful." rather than saying "She's old but beautiful." or "He's strong and kind" rather than "He's strong but kind.".
