This is a New York Times bestseller so Iā€™m sure youā€™ve already seen this floating around. I just wanted to say itā€™s worth the hype. Itā€™s the first 5/5 stars read Iā€™ve had in a while. A beautifully written story about someone searching for meaning or purpose. Akbar does so well with writing in a nonlinear timeline and different perspectives. This made me cry and laugh, tense up, hold my breath, and finally exhale. I will be thinking of this book for a really long time I think. And Iā€™ll probably go back to it many times. It also touches upon grief through unique lens.

I read this a few months back and with every new book I read all I can think is ā€œyouā€™re not Martyr!ā€¦.ā€ This was just instantly one of my favourite books of all time. I love it so much just thinking about it makes me cry. Does Kaveh know what he did here??? He is the greatest. Cyrus Shams I love you so much.

i looked into this book after seeing faye websterā€™s recommendation about it on here, and i decided i should read it for myself. iā€™ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately, but iā€™m happy to say that this pulled me out of it. the book is so beautifully written; itā€™s an interesting story with a very relatable protagonist, but thereā€™s also so much to learn from it. i annotated it to pieces. i found myself talking about it in conversations, and it really made me reflect on some of my own thought patterns that are like cyrusā€™. i highly recommend it to anyone looking for their next read :). hereā€™s a page that i liked so much that i had to take a picture of it in the moment.

Something fairly easy, but super delicious and rewarding to eat. (Cutting into fun shapes is necessary) I used 3 cups water, 2 1/2 cups of vinegar, 2 tsp of salt, and 2 tsp of sugar for the brine. (I like mine a bit on the sweeter side, but Iā€™ve heard sugar is optional) The fun part is the customization of what veggies you want in there. My choice was cucumber, radish, daikon, red onion, and carrot. The final touches to help with flavoring were garlic, pepper corn, dill, and Thai chilis. (highly recommend the chilis if you like a lil spice) I wonder what combo Iā€˜ll try next.

This is partially inspired by an anti-rec I saw on here and a conversation with a friend. Lol Iā€™m here to defend gift cards as a gift! I seriously love them! I grew up in a not so financially stable household and Iā€™m still in my mid twenties, so spending anything literally on myself thatā€™s not groceries or housing, I feel guilty for! So when my boss, after a conversation we had about how I like going to the movies for fun, got me a movie theater gift card for Christmas, I was actually so hyped. Movie theater tickets are expensive and sometimes not in my budget, but she granted me that experience without any doubt. It was so fun. I took my partner and his little sister. Another example, my friend is an athlete and loves getting massages and trips to the chiropractor so she loves getting gifted a gift card to those clinics. Another example, I told my sister that my ā€œdown badā€ meal was Mendocino Farms. I would order it everytime I was having a bad day. Weā€™re besties and couldnā€™t hang out cause of living in different cities. If she were to get me a gift card to Mendocino Farms, I wouldā€™ve literally cried. It wouldā€™ve showed that she cared for me, even at my lowest. Another example, I have a friend who has to commute to work and tends to eat out often. He says chipotle is his favorite and is aligned with his training/diet. So naturally, he was happy when he got gifted a chipotle card. Of course a general target/visa gift card is wack, but a gift card with context? ;) *chefā€™s kiss* At the end of the day, gifts are lovely and it always matters about intent!
