I spent two weeks in london abd started to reconsider my negative view of the city. In fact, I even began to like it. When I stepped off the metro into Paris though, I was instantly reminded of why I do not fw London. Paris is maybe the perfect city, and I would move here if it was easy.

new york (greatest place on earth, still feels like home even though i haven’t lived there in almost 2 years. has everything. best part is brooklyn)
london (where i live now, unique in that it’s got most everything new york does but bc it’s way bigger there’s so many peaceful pockets. weather sucks ass though, transit is really expensive, and the size works against it for walkability at times. best part is southeast)
los angeles (driving is fun, weather is perfect, so many good places to eat, nice to be in space. traffic and size do get to be a pain in the ass though. best part is east/northeast)
berlin (the new york of europe with worse weather and probably even nicer people. plus much cheaper. i like east but need to spend more time in diff areas)
oakland (i grew up in berkeley. most underrated city there is. so beautiful, always has cool people doing cool shit. you prob need a car though and it’s highly dependent on who you know. best area is probably somewhere near the lake but not on the downtown side)
paris (used to live there. overrated for sure, whole city is beige + everyone stinks + a lot of mean people all up in each others business + super slow unaware walkers, but on holiday it’s easier to just enjoy the beauty and there’s so many good restaurants. great biking city too. feels the least like a big city of the tier 1 spots. best part is where 11e and 20e meet near belleville)
prague (so beautiful, so cheap, people are so nice, great food, literally the only thing is weather and language barrier at times)

i live in london at the moment - it's awesome, and there's so much to do at any given opportunity (for remarkably cheap). like i've been decision paralysed today because there are so so many movies that i want to see all happening on the same day next week, which kind of articulates the best and worst bits about london - so much opportunity, all the time, which could all theoretically be yours but is just out of reach. i know that example seems really trivial but like on a larger scale it feels like everyone is cooler and more literate and more cultured than you and it's a constant battle to see more and do more and be more. it's a privilege in itself to have that and want that but it's still overwhelming

oh boy this one is gonna be controversial. first off to be transparent I am a huge nerd and train models for a living. that being said, I was a huge ai hater for a long time and never used it in anything I did.
Then, I started using it a bit for coding, then for research (tool use ftw), then for a whole bunch of simple tasks I wanted to automate but couldn’t w pure code (either due to needing unpredictable input or needing buttons pushed).
Is it super useful, not yet. Should we replace people with it, obviously not. But like dude. You can TALK to your computer in ENGLISH (or french, arabic, japanese, etc.) and it will understand you and respond. I think the like crazy shift in human - computer interaction here is kinda slept on ngl, I fw this heavy now.
