I don’t really think there is a generalized, proper etiquette to it, but I totally get what you mean. I have also felt that pressure to get in, do my shit quickly, then get out, but I found I was just going to the wrong places or going at the wrong times. I found a few Different places near me that I feel like I can stay for varying amounts of time. One place is super quick: in and out, no frills, no staying, quick. Another one I will stay for a quick bite, maybe a little chat, but I wouldn’t work there because it is way too busy and I know they want tables turned to keep people happy. Another one I will sit and vibe at, maybe read for a while but it is super quiet, so I don’t want to work because I don’t want to be too loud. The one I work at is a good level of congregating, reading, working, conversations, etc. I feel most comfortable there and I have never felt like I’ve overstayed my welcome. there was even once I stayed there for 6 hours.

Oooh okay this makes me feel a lot better. The place I go to is that kind of combo of people working and talking/hanging out. So it’s probably fine to stay there for longer amounts of time!! thank you for your input!! :D

As a coffee shop owner of almost 7 years, here’s the answer!! If it’s crazy busy, like on a weekend and the lines out the door, definitely limit yourself.. 30mins feels like the sweet spot. Any other day of the week, please sit down and enjoy yourself forever! All day even! as long as you bought something and aren’t taking a seat away from someone who really needs it, we certainly don’t care. Especially if it’s art, we love that. People on computers doing zoom calls though, those suck haha.

largely depends on the restaurant bc when they stop serving food and when they kick folks out isn’t standardized across the entire industry, if it feels like you’re cutting it close i’d make a courtesy call and let the staff decide, because if they have a heads up and say they’ll still seat you it isn’t a dick move otherwise for sure lol

something everything should do just once (if you don't enjoy it, just once is enough). you come to terms quickly with how humans treat one another. you don't matter as much as you think you do and come to understand that some work is just work. you might even get a chance to sort out your own hangups and internal thought patterns. you surrender to running around like an idiot sooner than you realize. the adrenaline pushes your limits in ways that are both funny and exhausting.you learn the value of a hard-earned fucking dollar/pound. no one really cares if you have this degree or that degree. there's someone there trying to feed their whole damn family off the check you're using to fund like studio time or catch a flight somewhere. I'm speaking to my experience in the UK where there are no gigantic gorgeous tips to be anticipated at the time of payment...just a service charge that people can just decided not to pay and you'd be surprise how many folks take it off. all this alone is humbling.

Maybe this isn’t so much a fix for staff, but I feel like the reposting of things has gotten a bit lame. I don’t want the “Everyone” feed to be the same post 20 times with nothing added, especially when the thing being re-rec’d isn’t even a real reccomendation in the first place. I like this app because it is different than Instagram and Twitter and tumblr and the like. I feel like people are trying to interact similarly to those other apps here. I feel like we are all drifting back into creating the same social media AGAIN. My vote would be to remove the feature entirely, but I see how it can be used thoughtfully

I like to make jewelry that would fulfill my inner child’s wishlist! I also sell the jewelry and I like to do silly photoshoots and edit the pictures to show it off. Like tow arts in one
