I saw this post and it made me pause and think. Hmm… how would I answer that question

I never lost myself. At least not completely. I wasted my youth trying to be what everyone else wanted and buried myself under thoughts and opinions and pressure from others. But the real me kept digging up through the dirt and shit demanding to be known. And it is such a blessing that I could never run from myself no matter how many times I tried. Now I am dedicating my time and efforts to nurturing her, celebrating her, showing her the dignity she has always deserved.

I love stuff and i love hanging onto things. I love that i have a stack of letters my friends and i wrote and passed back and forth in class at 13 years old. I love that i still have the fake menu my best friend and i made when we were 8 for our fake restaurant that only served bug-based dishes. I love that i have a drunk love note scrawled on toilet paper at 3 in the morning in 2012. seemingly meaningless things like this from my past help remind me that I’ve actually led a wonderfully full life despite often feeling like I’ve not done enough.

a decade ago a lost love of mine told me i have sad eyes and i’ve never forgotten that. life is full of mundanities, so when someone tells you something truly special, always keep it in the back of your mind.

One of my colleagues brought King cake today and I got to try some for the first time. I have to say it tasted pretty good (I wanted to go back for more 💀). She then told me about the plastic baby baked inside the cake, and that whoever finds it gets good luck. I didn’t expect to be the one to find it haha. How cool is that! First time eating it and I get the baby. It really made me day hehe. I looked it up and the little baby is called a fève.

These books were required reading for my Texas history classes that I took in uni. I never liked Texas history in primary and secondary school, but my passion for studying TX history was ignited when I took those classes at uni. I had really great professors. These are the books: - Sleuthing the Alamo by James E. Crisp - The Captured by Scott Zesch
