I live in Brooklyn. I’m an architectural designer and my first solo project (a house renovation) was just completed! And I play guitar in a heavy post-punk band called Hands First. :)

Being a fan

As Perfectly Imperfect subscribers know, being into shit is cool. This was an early rec I made on the PI.FYI app, inspired by Facebook’s “like” feature formerly being called “become a fan” because I find the verbiage so sweet and so supportive. It’ll always be way cooler to be an embarrassing superfan than to have 0 interests.

Aimee France (FKA yungkombucha420)

Aimee is a cake baker in Brooklyn who makes the most gorgeous and delicious sounding cakes I’ve ever seen. I have been aware of her cakes for a while but I ultimately fell in love with Aimee France The Person when the TikTok algorithm served me her vlogmas series. I swear her daily vlogs were the only things keeping me going through last December. She is cool as hell and I love to see what she’s up to. I have not yet had the honor of trying one of her cakes but I’m hoping to get to one of her mini cake pop-ups soon.

Making playlists for extremely specific vibes

Inside everyone there are playlists waiting to escape…Collecting songs that connect to a vibe or feeling near to your heart is so fun. I’ve made some pretty good ones over the years including the very successful 90s romcom spring nyc (for when you want to pretend you’re in somewhere between a Nora Ephron movie and 13 Going on 30), summer camp (for 70s-90s running around barefoot by a lake vibes), limited too store playlist (for the girlies, obviously), and country bops (my favorite country songs from growing up in Texas). Express yourself with some sonic fusion!!

NYT Cooking’s Greek Lemon Potatoes Recipe

I am kinda famous amongst my friends and family for making these. I swear they taste like sour candy, they are sooo good. To make them extra delicious, the secret ingredient (and this goes for all potatoes) is love and patience!! Good things take time. <3

Tracy & the Plastics

This project is very dear to me… I first saw it at the New Museum back in like 2016 and became obsessed. Artist, musician, filmmaker Wynne Greenwood started a band with herself basically. She takes on 3 personas: Tracy (the lead, usually live), and Cola and Nikki (usually projected behind her). It’s hard to explain how incredible this is. Even just timing each video must have been so meticulous. Tracy has live, hilarious conversations with Nikki and Cola. The girls each have such developed personalities. There’s one scene where Nikki asks Tracy to start calling her Nicole (even tho it’s not her name) and then Cola asks to be called Nicole too. IDK they crack me up and the music is honestly really good too! I find it all so inspiring and would love to try to make my own version… Maybe one of these days I will. Wynne has worked with Le Tigre (she made the music video for Hot Topic and one of the videos for their live performance backdrop last year.) I could ramble about this for a long time but I will not — u should go watch some Tracy & the Plastics!

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat

I usually paint my own nails myself rather than going to a salon and this top coat is my holy grail. I was introduced to it in high school when my friend used it on my nails during class. I was worried about walking around with wet nails all day, but it was not an issue with this stuff. It dries really fast – in 2 minutes or so – but also makes your nail polish look fantastic. People often ask me if it’s gel polish. Get into it.
