NYC MUNICIPAL archives

1939-1941 NYC attempted to photograph every building in all 5 Burroughs. very striking to me is the lack of plastic, there are wooden crates, pallets and barrels instead. There are NO TREES on streets or in the park nearest me. And there’s not a lot of garbage on the ground.

Garbagefinds

Montreal’s profesh trash digger. This person goes around the city, mostly in areas where wealthier people can live and he scouts for thrown away objets. He documents his work shifts everyday and will always update us on what everything is worth on the next day when he cleans it up. His content gives an intimate look into the mundane and ordinary and documents the city in a manner that I lack the courage to replicate.

It eliminates the onus of choice and leads you down musical rabbit holes free of the algorithm. I like college radio stations because there are no ads for tires or whatnot.

Quiet and startling and filmed entirely out of focus which sounds like it would be challenging but I found the blurriness so nice like a painting and the dialogue was so ordinary it felt like from another world
