There’s something inherently special about public outdoor ice skating rinks.
Despite ending up with a concussion the last time I was at the outdoor rink, throughout winter it has served as a public space free of pretension (rare!)
Whoever you are, ice skating brings out the inner child in everyone because it’s all boiled down to one thing: gliding over ice.
Look left, a six year old has fallen for the umpteenth time. A smile from ear to ear. Look right, a 60 year old man, hockey obviously being a past life, fluttering past you. A smile from ear to ear.
