i was given my first camera at 9 old, a blue canon underwater camera. i filmed and photographed everything that was important to me at that time in my life. i just found the hard drive with all of my photos from 2010 (i was 10) and it is so special to get to see the world through the eyes of my child-self, i’m still drawn to the same things, i still have the same urge to record life around me because everything is beautiful and fleeting. ive never seen any of these until now and so many memories are flooding back. this is one of the photos i found

You are soooooooooooooo lucky. I would pay any amount of money to have my childhood digital camera back. At least your rec made me remember how it felt taking those first pictures that were mine.

As photography became my job I find it easy to forget the love of the art that made me pursue it in the first place. Sometimes I take out the very first camera I got all those years ago and find that it reminds me of why I love it so much. Documenting my life for the fun of it. Back to the simplicity and naivety I had when I got that camera all those years ago. Remember why you love what you love

i found a box of my parent’s photos from when they first started dating to their wedding and around when i was born and made me realize: 1. there is so much more life to live!! and i hope i can look back on my 20’s with the same fondness they do 2. how nice it is to have physical photos - i never go through my camera roll but i love revisiting old journals or scrapbooks and i think printing photos would have the same effect. i find that the phone camera effect almost makes taking pictures feel more disposable or practical rather than artistic (for me personally, ik a lot of people who have really nice camera rolls on their phones) so maybe getting a camera or just thinking about memory capture differently would aim me in this direction

not even trying to be pretentious (long time readers will remember this one !) i just think it’s nice take silly sweet photos of my friends on a camera that may be fuzzy but captures my love for them and the joy of the situation much more than a hdr corrected iphone photo does. plugging the memory card into a reader into an adaptor into my laptop and receiving the photos give me the feeling of yes ! i am a university student ! and not an oh god ! i have so much debt ! i love my friends (see previous pi.fyis)

scoured the internet for two weeks trying to find a beautiful old danish movie that literally doesn’t exist online. finally found a comment on facebook that mentioned the movie, messaged the person (a sweet old lady), walked her through the process of burning her dvd into a copy and getting it processed into a digital file to send to me. It was such an archaic file type that I had to download old software that probably gave my computer viruses but it was the best movie ever and i would do it again now watching netflix feels too easy
