For my money easily one of the best music videos of the 2000s - supremely underrated. Absolutely epic in feel, poignantly contrasted against the extremely specific and niche setting of a post-industrial small town neighborhood car stereo competition in northern France.
RIP DJ Mehdi the track rips too with an awesome edit by one half of Daft Punk (Bangalter)

Nobody likes it when a DJ messes up what the beginning of a bar is on a track during a transition: everybody gets confused and doesn't know which beat to follow. Ironically, everyone loves when a track makes room for this to happen on purpose, just like this one does. The vocal goes on and on and on without a beat, and by the time you think you know what you're grooving to, you're taken for a ride when the rest of the arrangement kicks in. I also have a soft spot for jangly filtered guitars and that compressed, plugged-nose sounding bass tone. I made garlic knots for the first time on friday and they were so good and easy!! definitely becoming a new staple when i have friends over for an italian-american dinner.
I used Brian Lagerstrom’s recipe on youtube and i highly, highly recommend it!

Im gonna be vulnerable and share a story where I am the offender. I matched with a very cool and smart and pretty girl who recently moved to Vancouver from Toronto (she’s now fairly big in the natural wine scene there HAHA but don’t want to doxx anyone just more a data point confirming the above). Aaaaaanyways I invited her to a very cool (long gone and now replaced with a shadow of its former self new pizza shop under new management) retro pizza shop and because I was so smitten proceeded to forget how to “sit cool”, how to make conversation, and EVEN how to eat pizza (omg this is so embarrassing). At the end of the date the server asked us if we wanted to pack up the rest of the pizza and I had picked up the check so she insisted I take it home but for some weird epigenetic mechanism around providing sustenance for the tribe reason I thought it would be “impressive” to say no to half of a massive pizza pie even though it was CLEARLY the end of the date making pizza box transport logistics a non-issue.
A humbling reminder that we can all be the weird one sometimes 🫠
