bro in 2022 i went to my local art center and i saw The Well by Estonian performance artist/dancer Maria Metsalu of Young Boy Dancing Group. it was insaaaaneeee. a whole existential experience, commentary about psychoanalysis, life, just craziness with an epic soundtrack by Oxhy. extra, probably very specific recommend: last summer i bought the text/poem version of The Well. its soooo good and inspiring.. buy the texts to plays/performance if you can!! (also, maybe if u ask nicely she gives a link to the video of her performance)

I just saw Otherland (w. Chris Bush, dir. Ann Yee) at the Almeida Theatre and I was a WRECK afterwards. Such a powerful portrayal of the struggles of the two lead women β€” one navigating coming out as trans to her wife, her family, and the world, and the other with divorcing her, having her own identity crisis, and struggling with having children β€” and so many bold decisions made in the storytelling and staging (particularly in the second act)! I really don't want to spoil anything so all I'll say is that the set, despite being largely a plain stage, has a specific piece that will probably be one of the most memorable bits of theatre I've ever seen. If you're in London do see if you can get tickets before it ends in March, although beware as it is quite heavy at times. I managed to get a very cheap under 25 ticket but I believe these are all sold out. You could try queueing for the Free performance night which I believe opens soon!

I'm not sure what to say tbh. I don't know the context of marionette art, let alone 1990's Russian marionettes so I feel ill-equipped to comment. but it speaking to me despite my lack of knowledge/marionette-literacy (lol) is in and of itself a testament to the work! it did remind me of the marionettes in The Double Life of Veronique, which I should really rewatch sometime! . . . [spoiler???? i guess???:] I also probably enjoyed it bc I've been really into heads in chest as a motif lately. why? unclear still

i feel like a massive hypocrite writing this, but im gonna be honest.. the past year i've been constantly listening to/watching youtube videos and ig reels in order to fill the silence. just loads and loads of useless information and empty talks. last night i realized that doing so has been keeping me from thinking about stuff, listening to music and in general, being productive. i was filling my head with useless noise so i wouldn't think. it ended up being a comfortable bubble of bullshit that was hard to break out of. today i stopped the video, grabbed my notes of things i want to DO and played some music in the background. felt much better. i might relapseβ€” i have many times, but im tired of being a vertically scrolling thumb (again).

i used to ride my bicycle/take public transport all the time, but walking is really good actually! it slows down the wildness of modern life, shows you small things you would otherwise drive past. its all around a good idea if you have time to spare of course. great for calming down, thinking, good for relieving stress, good for meeting new people

going to the museums in my city, going to events, visiting art schools as a spectator to view their expositions it gives me this.. je ne sais quoi feeling. like, euphoria and inspiration and hope in a weird combined way. thinking about art, talking about art - and by that i mean anything from jewelry to graphic design, paintings, poetry, (short) film and sculptures. just fills me with purpose unlike anything else. im watching my sims be succesful artists and im like.. damn i wanna be that.
