One of the greatest melodies created by human beings A song about sex that doesn't say sex. The music industry worst nightmare of being told by your artistic-interfering label that you need a hit single, but then the hit single you created was "Dancing In The Dark"

I used to not think much about this song when I was younger– I thought it was very repetitive– but then I watched Aftersun, and I actually listened to the lyrics for the first time. If you take the verses at face value, they seem disjointed, as if multiple ideas are being thrown together into a single song. Funnily enough, that's exactly what unifies them. There are multiple interpretations out there about the meaning of this song, but for me, it's about the pressures people feel when seeking acceptance in a world preoccupied with conformity and maintaining a certain status quo. The very things that force people to "fit in" are also the things that tear us apart by allowing us to lead with fear and hatred of the unknown. Pressure Pushing down on me Pressing down on you No man ask for Under pressure That burns a building down Splits a family in two Puts people on streets In the end, that pressure can only be relieved by caring and loving people for being themselves. 'Cause love's such an old-fashioned word And love dares you to care for The people on the edge of the night And love dares you to change our way of Caring about ourselves This is our last dance This is our last dance This is ourselves Under pressure Anyways, this song has a newfound place in my heart and never ceases to give me goosebumps whenever I hear it now. Give it a listen, like really listen to it– it may just stir something in you too 🫂

Combining punk sensibility with pop simplicity and deceptively sweet but eviscerating production… When “Elevation” by The Dare comes on, without fail, I get asked who the artist is. When I answer, they’re always a little surprised. Nothing against Harrison and his perfectly calibrated image of sex and partying—sex and partying are really important—but I love when artists catch their skeptics off guard and show another dimension. “Elevation” is a brilliant love song, so catchy it hooks into your brain like a good hit should. When you listen to it on a proper system, the buzzsaw synths rattle your cage. It builds to an overwhelming euphoria that emulates the feeling it describes. It’s going to age well… he understands.

Social media can encourage us to constantly seek out the novel and makes us feel like we're missing out if we don't. It's much better for peace of mind, in my opinion, if we let go of the immediate, and use impermanence as our filter for information. We don't all need to watch the latest streaming show, or hear the latest album. What needs to find us, and what we need to find, usually finds a way

In a world where monopolization is allowed, sometimes you can only drop Trader Joe's for union busting, while keeping your Amazon account. Real, wide change in this world might require a new 2020, but we can do a little bit better a little at a time
