I got my current role by rage applying and it’s weirdly great but still whenever I get mad at it, I either update my resume (I’m only able to boast about my work when I’m mad at my job!) or randomly apply to roles - it gives you a task to focus on and it could end up changing your life for the better.

Despite having a solid ass job on paper with good pay, benefits, team, culture, etc etc I'm so over it/my employer after almost 4 years and am just applying to whatever and fantasizing a life where I'm doing something different And who knows maybe something will work out!

A YouTube photographer, Madison Beach, once set herself the goal of getting 50 or 100 rejections from her photo submissions in one year. Try thinking of applying for jobs the same way. Look at every application or interview as a step toward a goal in and of itself. Even the most qualified person is going to apply to dozens of jobs before getting a position. Each application represents another step on that path. Every interview makes you more prepared for the next. I’ve also heard the advice that you should want to uncomfortable in any new job because that means you are challenging yourself and giving yourself the opportunity to learn and get better. This is easy for me to say, harder for someone to follow!

I’m applying to a new role internally at my company that a colleague thinks I would be a great fit for. It would be a significant step up in my responsibilities and pay + I wouldn’t have to hustle as much as I do and could work less long hours… regardless of how this application goes that’s a huge goal for me just in general! I want to quit my self-employed work with an agency I absolutely hate in a field that I’ve never enjoyed but pursued out of convenience/necessity. I’m a generalist with good analytical decision-making skills and can do pretty much anything if I sit down and take the time to learn it (I keep surprising myself with what I can do!) so hopefully some of the efforts I’ve put in this year will pay off in seeking a career pivot. Would love to have more leisure time and to dedicate more effort to my creative pursuits. Going back to therapy might be a good idea because I‘ve made significant progress in a lot of areas but could use help in others. I also want to umm decorate my house more and probably replace most of my wardrobe…

This is annoying advice but love has always come to me when I’m not looking for it. When I get very active in things I’m passionate about (usually leftie organizing but also art and history stuff and also just spending time with friends a la the friends of friends rec) I meet new people and find interesting, aligned folks.

Harpo is very sweet and loves all people but is very particular about dogs and always wants to be the center of attention. He listens perfectly if treats are involved but otherwise is not very interested in what we want. He was found wandering the streets of Bakersfield (we decided he was too small to be named Buck) and now he is a bougie Silver Lake pup and has his own set of friends and admirers in the neighborhood. Laemmle was found crying in a hole all alone on a cold and rainy night Just outside of LA’s Chinatown. When she was a baby she was a demon about any food, especially butter, but now she is perfect and sweet and loves to sit in your lap in purr. She kills and eats bugs so we never have to worry about them. (Lem-lee)
