Charlie is actually one of my IRL best friends. One thing to know about me is that I donāt believe in speaking highly of something a friend makes just because weāre friends. I know that makes me sound cold / mean, but I feel like itās worse to pretend to like something that you donāt actually like.
That being said, I absolutely love Charlieās music. If youāre going to listen, The Arc, Pt. 1 & 2 is the album to dive into. Filled with regret, sadness and heartbreak, Iāve consumed it over and over and over. Songs to listen to: God Damn Fool, Fear and Fear 2. Enjoy.

i also recommend wholeheartedly thanking your friends for music recommendations that you really resonate with, even if you listen to it years after they recommend it, and even if thanking them sounds or seems sappy. recommending music is such a special and sacred thing and i always like to hear when someone connects with something iāve sent them, whether i talk to this person every day or once every few years. sharing music is choosing to love and we should spread that love all around, all the time <3

I canāt believe Dan finally dropped the song after all this time! I donāt know Dan. Or who Dan is, really. But they say Danās upcoming record is a masterpiece. Everyone on my TL loves Dan. Or at least they say they love Dan. I guess I do too. Danās new song is good. So good that the first time I listened to it, I sold all my crypto and looked into buying a pony. Danās new song just makes me feelā¦ I donāt knowā¦ beautiful. Maybe itās all been done before, but I like it like this. Yep, lemme get one emo ballad with melodramatic strings, self-effacing vocals, and a gritty guitar solo endearingly afraid of overstaying its welcome, but make it Danās way. The truth is, you donāt need any context for the song to work its magic. You donāt need to know that Dan plays guitar in Porches, or that he once ran the most esteemed acoustic guitar orchestra New York Cityās ever seen, or that Melody English did the backing vocals on the track. You donāt even need to be mutuals on IG. When you listen to āAcross My Jaw,ā Danās your friend.

I feel like thereās a special connectivity on this app that I havenāt felt in a long time, maybe since early 2010ās tumblr. The fact that you canāt promote yourself like IG is wonderful. The fact that there isnāt mass video content like Tik Tok is great. Itās not this monetized / paid sponsorship app. People are here because they want to be a part of something with nothing to gain besides friendship. Seeing the URL -> IRL meetups warms my heart so much (waiting for an NYC or Brooklyn meetup).

I think a life rule for me is to surround myself with people who know more / are smarter / are cooler than me and just absorb their aura by listening / observing them. Itās made me the incredibly smart / cool person you all know and love.
I just never thought Iād feel the same way about URL friends. Iām constantly listening to the songs I see posted here, reading the articles, subbing to newsletters, and googling topics that get tossed onto the feed.
Itās nice to know you can become a more rounded person by just absorbing what your mutuals post on here. Iām going to sit on my couch, have a cocktail and digest my lovely feed. Happy Sunday!
