sunrise

very basic answer, but i had to wake up at 6am after only two and a half hours of sleep today for a shift and seeing the sunrise genuinely changed the whole trajectory of my morning. it was so pretty and i was so in awe i forgot to be miserable (i was so engrossed in trying to get a good picture that i missed my bus and got to work late so these photos are premium content y'all, i don't know if the camera will do it justice but it was this brilliant, super saturated pink bleeding into a pretty purple around the edges)

sunrise or sunset?

when you wake up early and see the winter sun at a long sunrise angle,, then realize that being one of a late-rising proclivity, this experience is much less common than observing a sunset with a beer at 7 or 8 pm in mid spring near the 49th parallel. being so rare, it relates itself much closer in my mind to these waning twilight moments, making me feel as if i just had risen from a mid-afternoon many houred nap, then a sense of pre-regret for my insomniac midnight self though it is really only 8:30 in the am... pic somewhat related i was making fun of people for stopping in the middle of main mall to take pictures with jaw afloor as if they had never seen the end of a diurnal cycle before, for coolness's sake i felt the need to take the position of haughtiness but then about two minutes later succombed to the same fate as these individuals, because it really was a master class in carnation and lilac framed above the recently violently eviscerated bushes and shrubs on the section of university boulevard that rises towards the fountain

Waking up early

I got out of bed almost straight away and went outside and it was so pretty and the sun was just coming over the tree line and now I don’t have to rush and there’s no time to waste bc im seizing it

Seasoning your rice

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but in most cases you’re gonna want to season your rice. After it cooks, put some oil/butter on that steamy starch and stir and salt it. It doesn’t even need to be a huge amount, but it’s going to improve things so much. You could even put a little vinegar in there too—go crazy. Everyone is gonna be like, “wow your rice tastes so good” and you can know that it’s all because of your use of FLAVORS and SCIENCE.

Ranch is good and if you don’t like it i‘m assuming you’re classist

Like, it’s inherently good and sometimes it’s nice to dip the hot pizza into ranch. I don’t do it all the time, but it’s a fun treat. Also, tapatío is great on pizza.
