If you use Instagram in a web browser (like on a desktop computer), bookmark this:
https://www.instagram.com/?variant=following
to see only a chronological feed from the accounts you follow. You can also use variant=favorites to see only your favorite accounts.

First, bookmark your subscriptions page on YouTube and always start there. Donât look at the front page, donât look at the side bar, turn off autoplay.
Second, on the Instagram app always start by touching the IG logo at the top left and choosing Following. This removes all suggestions (and even ads in my experience) from your feed. I think it puts it in chronological order, too.
The internet is full of fun, creative and interesting stuff! Take back some control so thatâs the stuff you see.

Concentrate on accounts you follow, and expect to run out of things to look at. Avoid âfor youâ and âsuggested posts/videosâ - when youâre out of Following posts, youâre done :)
People have said the internet is full of horrors, and I know thatâs true, but I havenât experienced it. Thatâs not to brag, just to show itâs possible! And I have spent my time on Tumblr, Reddit, pre-Musk Twitter, YouTube, instagram.
Link goes to a post with specific advice for IG and YouTube. I donât think Twitter can be used this way anymore, and you will have junk shoved into your feed no matter what.
Maybe start fresh with new accounts to reset everything, too
