I don’t know if that technically still counts as touristy lol, but some of the food in San Francisco is just fantastic, especially Asian foods in the region. I highly recommend Palette Tea House if you enjoy Dim Sum (small plates of things like dumplings, noodles, etc. that you can order at will). Amazing service and food, also near the water and in Ghirardelli Square. I also enjoy Sutter Pub, really cute decor and restaurant front, great food, local beer. The Irish Bank is a really great tavern actually owned by an Irish man lol, great fish and chips. Posh Bagel and Home Coffee are right between the entrance to Chinatown and FiDi, my favorite morning spots when I’m in San Fran.

- taking a stroll at crissy fields. preferably on a sunny day. the view of the bay and bridge is awesome and really sells the im in san francisco
- if you want to splurge on eats please go to Zuni Cafe! It’s classy California chic. order a martini and a pile of french fries if you’re not up for a full meal
- for a fun drink there’s true laurel and any drink pairs with their patty melt (would also recommend just the patty melt🤓)
- my old dive haunt was the 500 club + they have a photo booth
- garden creamery has a rotational / seasonal ice cream menu that’s always yummy. grab a scoop and walk to dolores park
- the tea leaf salad!! at Burma Superstar
- catch a movie at the Roxie they have awesome programming
- don’t be afraid to walk up some hills. some random neighborhoods can have epic views

Oh, the lure of San Francisco… I always dreamed I would end up living there as an adult because my parents lived there when they were young and hot in the 90s. I visited a lot growing up and was always enchanted. Ended up going to Berkeley for school and by then the vibe in SF… was already off. Expensive and full of tech bros wearing backpacks at bars and increasingly soulless. The housing crisis is devastating and visible on every street you walk down. I went last October for work and it felt so haunted.
But if you must…
🖤 Scoma’s (fancy lunch in fisherman’s wharf, get the Crab Louie and a martini)
🖤 Tommy’s Joynt (no fuss meat sandwiches & cheap cocktails)
🖤 Vesuvio (perfect bar, iSpy vibes in terms of decor)
🖤 Tommasso’s (best italian. Get the chilled broccoli and some sort of pizza with arugula on it)
🖤 Swensen’s (my favorite ice cream in the world. I miss it and dream of it. Get sticky chewy chocolate or banana)
🖤 House of Nanking (go when you’re starving for Hot Food! you may have to wait a little but it won’t be that long. Get the green beans and if they have congee, by god get that. Also ask for chili oil)

So we all think it’s sketchy that Tik Tok is already back right? And that they posted a statement kissing Trump’s ass and making him out to be the one saving Tik Tok when he isn’t even sworn in yet? And now Trump wants the US government to have a 50% ownership, aka turning Tik Tok into state owned media just like I thought was happening. And I’m sure most people won’t be able to stay away from Tik Tok and Meta which is so disappointing. I want nothing to do with Tik Tok now because I know the app as we knew it is already gone at this point.

There’s something about the quality of digital camera photos that make a picture of anything you take look more pleasing (to me anyway). The nostalgia, the saturation, I love them. I have a couple cameras that still work from when I was a kid, but I also bought one on eBay that was similar to one that used to be a favorite of mine. I just throw it in my purse and take it everywhere, and it’s so much more fun than trying to get the “perfect shot,” especially now that I’ve deleted Meta and gone with Pixelfed it seems that people love posting anything from the little things they see or their drinks. It’s making photo sharing fun again! Although, if you do download Pixelfed (which isn’t the point of this post but) I highly recommend using it in your browser on your phone for now, they’ve already made things run smoother from when I first downloaded but they’re definitely still working on the app.

So many people are so scared to do things on their own, but it can be so fun and liberating! I’m my own favorite travel partner. You can try fun places without worrying about what someone else is in the mood for, meet so many people, people watch, read, visit museums Or other stops and take all the time you want, etc. I think a lot of people care too much about what others think when they’re seen doing something or dining alone, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter. Starting out, go to a restaurant that has a bar and sit at the bar, you can enjoy your food and maybe a drink, if you get anxious about people talking to you or aren’t having fun people watching, take up watching the sports on the tv to look occupied! Or maybe your solo outing could first be taking yourself on a museum date and getting to spend as much time as you want in each exhibit.
