Get involved in your neighborhood. Join resource sharing groups, find mutual aid groups. Get to know your neighbors face to face. We keep each other safe when the government refuses to. Stay informed, but donā€™t drive yourself crazy reading every single article. Protest. Be proud and loud about what you believe, and call out fascism when you see it in the news. Fond ways to be more self sufficient if you can: grow what food you can, mend your clothes, be a conscientious spender, know where your money is going. Little steps are still steps.

Join your community garden! Go to local events! Continue to show up even if you feel kinda awkward in the beginning! Get involved in your neighborhood in some way and I promise itā€™ll change your life for the better. Even if itā€™s just for the random convos you get to have when you run into someone on the street that youā€™ve met before or gaining a local friend that can water your plants or pick up packages while youā€™re away, it feels good to feel like youā€™re a part of something bigger than yourself.

Mutual aid is a way we can take care of our neighbors! Iā€™d highly recommend looking into joining one in your area. My group that I joined last September has been focused on fighting the anti-homeless legislation and rhetoric thatā€™s been pushed by local representatives in our area. We also have done a couple free community meals, coat drives/distribution, and fundraisers/protests for Palestine šŸ‡µšŸ‡ø Iā€™ve made a few friends through this group and itā€™s been very fulfilling to know im actively doing things to help others in my community!

Spend your nights anxious about which way the town is going? Actually do something to change it! Being in the US right now, I feel sometimes powerless to all the shit politicians/ corporations/ etc. are pulling. However, the only way to beat that terrible feeling is to actually do the work to make the world a better place. By being involved in local government/ groups/ initiatives, even if itā€™s super annoying and reeks of bureaucracy, you can at least say you tried. Thereā€™s also the benefit of meeting people who also care about things (like increasing arts funding or whatever) and probably share other interests too.

Maybe this isnā€™t so much a fix for staff, but I feel like the reposting of things has gotten a bit lame. I donā€™t want the ā€œEveryoneā€ feed to be the same post 20 times with nothing added, especially when the thing being re-recā€™d isnā€™t even a real reccomendation in the first place. I like this app because it is different than Instagram and Twitter and tumblr and the like. I feel like people are trying to interact similarly to those other apps here. I feel like we are all drifting back into creating the same social media AGAIN. My vote would be to remove the feature entirely, but I see how it can be used thoughtfully
