I hateeee when I’m on letterboxd and look at reviews and see someone say something like “this is so unrealistic” “this would never happen” “when [insert] happened I immediately was taken out of it”…. It’s a movieeeeee!!!! Sit down to enjoy the media, not to critique every little thing that seems slightly wrong about it… obviously there are exceptions but LOL do u know what I mean

i’ve been waiting for this one bc when i saw Wonka in theaters (first of all, it was amazing) there was an elderly man behind me who the E N T I R E T I M E was screaming that the movie was unrealistic i was cracking up because it’s such an odd thing to say about a magic man who flies and makes chocolate but ultimately it made the movie viewing experience extra excellent

shutting the fuck up in the movie theater

Why do you come to a repertory screening at a movie theater to talk through the whole thing… damn you to hell!! Furthermore, people who laugh at anything remotely weird, uncomfortable, or provocative in a film… I’m not sure what you’re trying to prove but part of the human experience is sitting in discomfort. Not to be the laughter police because there is humor in absurdity, but I can’t stand people laughing at everything just because it’s “weird” and they don’t want to seem like they condone the message on screen.

Ignoring the critics sometimes

Art criticism has its place but nothing stinks more than recommending a movie to someone and them saying “but it has a low IMDB rating”… maybe it’s just ahead of its time. maybe it’s misunderstood. Maybe it’s perfectly low brow.

enjoying things after the hype is over

I really hate when people say “you should watch this, it’s so good”. Maybe it’s my natural oppositional defiance at play, but any time something gets hyped up, I want nothing to do with it. So I just finished watching Challengers, and yeah. It lives up to the hype. But I’m glad I came to that conclusion in my own terms, makes it easier to see a piece of work for what it is, without the influence of too many opinions.

Everyone hates on the cgi mostly but honestly it’s not even that bad for the amount there is LOL. And it’s just so cute and nostalgic. thrifted a cd of it like 2 or 3 years back that has the old 3d glasses inside :p
