society places too much pressure on everyone having their own style (but only in approved marketable categories), being hot and funny and interesting all the time. kind of a lot of pressure if you ask me. be yourself! even if you are lame as hell.

just from a quick browse of your page i can already disprove your claim about not being into cool music. how can you like bjork, samia, and velvet underground and say you don't have taste? maybe you just hang out with so many other cool people with interesting music palates so it seems normalized to you, but that just means you're someone who surrounds yourself with interesting and like-minded folks! instead of focusing on external factors - how someone might perceive you, how you think you compare, why someone might or might not like you, focus on what you like doing, what excites you and motivates you, and people who resonate with how you do you will naturally gravitate towards the things you might share. if you think you're lame, you'll feel lame, and then you'll act lame. it's a feedback loop. when you do the things you think are cool regardless of what anyone else might have to say about it you will become cooler because you're actually just being yourself

i feel like social media has made us so self-aware of our actions/habits/behaviors. we are thinking of what is cool or trendy or desirable. we are too afraid to be cringe! to be stupid! to be lame! the best community i have found is the people who are not afraid to like what they like & are proud of it. do the stuff you always wanted to try. the people will follow.

i think now more than ever, we live in a society where it is normalized to judge others for not following the “trends” or “socially acceptable” things, which has become a big problem for the coming generations. i think people should be their unique, authentic, selves and shouldn’t be afraid of such, because who actually cares ? i mean, yeah, people will probably judge you for it and say rude things, but people will do that anyways, so why not have them say it about something YOU know you love. as long as you know that you like it, then it shouldn’t matter what that one girl thinks about it, because at the end of the day, it’s just someone’s opinion, not an actual truth. if you wanna dress all funky and different, do it !! and do so with confidence .

not in a scientific sense. how does time perception change cultures, how do we pass down knowledge via generations, why does making someone wait signal power and why do we get pissed off when someone waits six days to respond to our text messages? eventually i'm going to write a paper on this but way too busy as of right now. highly recommend

i get it, sometimes a bitch gotta wallow. but i believe that the music you listen to shapes your outlook. like yeah if all you listen to is midwest emo My Mom Hates Me And I Hate Her Too, sad indie “i miss my ex and he’s the only one that could understand me“ tunes, then maybe you won’t be the most optimistic person alive. pop some techno, eurodance, or really anything with strong beat and slightly positive lyrics (or no lyrics at all) into your headphones.

exactly what it says, i'm pretending i'm girlinsides or catherine shannon in my private google doc, font comic sans, hot pink, size 13. obviously it will never see the light of day, sort of an exhibitionist exercise in self-indulgence, without having to actually, you know, be vulnerable online.
