This is still one of my favorite shows of all time. I havenā€™t watched all of it start to finish, but it still makes me laugh while tackling really tough issues. I just learned the other day the first 2 seasons were inspired by an autobiography from an actual MASH doctor who served in the Korean War. I think itā€™s still relevant in our current political climate. One time, during a tense situation on a tightly packed train, someone told my wife, ā€œYou gotta laugh, or youā€™re gonna cry.ā€ Even while things feel like theyā€™re falling apart around us, we have to keep smiling if we have any chance of getting through it. Be sure to take care of yourself. ā¤ļø

hear me out, y'all. this has been my comfort show for like a hundred years. it never gets old. the epitome of #wholesome. do you love: -tiny coastal towns -bumbling nephews -old people having crushes on each other -grumpy small-town doctors -cops being shown up by an old lady -that same old lady confronting murderers and saying things to them like, "now stop this fiddle faddle!" if you answered "yes" to any of the above, this show is for you! maybe it's just because i spent most of my childhood around no-nonsense, bookish, old people in new england, but this show is A VIBE so stop sleeping on it.

Iā€™ve watched it over and over every decade of my life, and I still enjoy it.

I first shaved my head in 2017 because I wanted to do something bold with my body, something I had considered for 2 whole weeks before just doing it. Now, I havenā€™t cut my hair since November 2024 and my hair is in the pixie stage. When people, usually women, ask me about cutting my hair, I always tell them to do it at least once because itā€™s so liberating to reclaim your body in a very obvious but temporary way. Itā€™s also nice to not worry about extensive care and maintenance. Iā€™m not sure if Iā€™m going to like having long hair again, but Iā€™m going to give it another try.

I had last Friday off work, and I decided to really treat myself. First, I spent my early afternoon in Greenpoint where I got a mani-pedi (something I havenā€™t done in years), and a yummy brunch across the street; walked to our favorite stationery store (Yoseka!) and got some little things; took the train to 8th Ave in Manhattan and walked south to the West Village; sat at the Stonewall Memorial for a bit listening to music; went to use the restroom at Stonewall where I stayed for a beer (and made a friend from out of town!); walked to the IFC Center to watch ā€œArmandā€ (great Norwegian film); finishing off my day with an easy dinner at home. Best day ever in a long timeā¤ļø
