😃
The time of year has come where I can watch a ton of movies at a theater in a 2 week period, which works great for my ADHD binge nature. Last night I caught Flow, which I absolutely loved! Such a unique experience. Night before we watched Conclave and A Real Pain. To be honest I was not a fan of A Real Pain. This week I plan to catch Sing Sing, Anora, A Complete Unknown, Porcelain War, The Girl With The Needle, and Nickel Boys. Animated Oscar Shorts were once again my favorite category. Very different from last year but wonderful nonetheless.

This is the first year I’m actually watching the nominations (Starting with best picture and I’ll see how many others I get to). Usually if I’ve seen a nominated movie it is by coincidence. I watch movies for the art not the charts what can I say? I kept adding to this all year and what I learned was that I really did not keep up with new releases like I wished I had. Notes for next year I guess but some highlights: - A Taste of Honey is so charming and got me so into kitchen-sink realism for a bit, gave me a deeper understanding of UK subculture/punk that I revere so much but was missing a lot of sociopolitical context on - Hollywood Shuffle is one of my dad’s favorites, very short and silly and sweet and smart. It made me a little emotional to think about how resonant this movie was for my dad when it came out. For those who don’t know the name or recognize Robert Townsend, Ayo’s dad on The Bear! - Watching Elaine Stritch bust her ass on “Ladies Who Lunch” from Company and baby Stephen Sondheim be a genius in real time changed me for the better

Who would've thought that some of them are pretty good? Award shows are my favorite form of celebrity performance, and it's way more fun when you've seen a bunch of the nominees. The applause, the random camera shots on A-Listers, the snubs... you can read it all on their faces.

vibrant and macabre, this movie was refreshing and sweet. To be honest, I’m not sure I would have felt the same had the relationship been swapped which is making me feel some sorta way.
