Tarot lady once gave me this advice. what gives you energy and calm? Meditation , move ur body etc. think of it almost as a trance like state you need to enter to create stuff You have to prioritise the (energetic) space you are in when creating - otherwise you can just easily sink out of it and do something else. Anything else can seem more important And when youre done, do something to end the session like go for a walk or drink a tea to come out of it

Thatā€™s such an amazing and helpful way to look at it. Iā€™Ll definitely try incorporating the ā€openingsā€ and ā€œclosingsā€ of my work time thanks!

AJMIC she also gave me the advice ā€œsing from your heartā€ haha. But itā€™s about intuition; ur intuition will tell you when itā€™s from your heart or not. that helped me too

Iā€™ve been meditating consistently for the first time in over a year and I feel like a big part of it is finding a good mix of traditional meditation and activities that put me in a meditative state (going for a walk, bird watching, water colors, reading tarot)

Echoing the value of restšŸ’— consider the 7 types of rest and see what areas might feel nice for you to incorporate into your day/week rn. There are some great tools out there (esp. if therapy or doctors visits are inaccessible or just not the right path for you) to support mental health or creative practices. Some free/web available resources I trust are The Artists Way by Julia Cameron (caveat that this has some chat about spirituality, and for some folks that may not be a great fit, but super useful otherwise), Thinking Traps Tutorial by Dr. Raquel Martin or any of her free resources really, and symptom journaling generally. Would be glad to share both wider or more specific reccs if desired. And just know it takes time but it's not forever that you'll feel dispassionate. Sending lots of gentleness and warmth to you.

i have yet to be able to sit still and turn off my mind and meditate the traditional way, but iā€™m a big believer in finding physical actions that allow one to enter that zoneā€¦i know when iā€™m active with my hands when drawing or playing an instrument, my brain enters a different state thats soothing and is the only time where no other thoughts are coming into my head. i have a friend that doesnā€™t eat sweets but she loves baking treats because the actions relax her. my uncle is a surfer and he says surfing is the only time he feels his brain is totally clear of any other thoughts. i don't garden but i imagine those that do find that space tooā€¦
