One of my favorite ways to practice guitar is to just play along with a whole record, and try to copy every lick, but never rewind. The rushย of playing along with a band in real time keeps you on your toes, and even if you only have time to mimic the rhythmic content or the rough melodic shape, you're working on so many things simultaneously - most importantly your ear. It's so much fun to play along with an Albert King or Marc Ribot Y Los Cubanos Postizos album.
