Recently been playing Challengers score (be wary of the titular song, the ending is alarm sound and i hate that they left it in the score), Palo Alto‘s score is frm Dev Hynes (also known as Blood Orange) and has some words but it’s very minimal. Also love Succession’s score of all 4 seasons and have written so many essays to them.

i might be a little late to this one (the ephemeral and deeply reactive pace of culture is something i’ve always struggled to keep pace with), but i haven’t been able to listen to anything else all week!! that reznor still has the chops to mastermind music that’s every bit as propulsive and vivacious as his output from the nineties is about as revelatory as the film itself — which, in my opinion, indubitably cements luca guadagnino as a genuine giant in contemporary cinema. do your ears a favor and play it loud, but not without treating your eyes to the film first ;P some especially pronounced highlights: - ‘yeah x10’ (crunchy, sleek and catchy — what’s more to love?!) - ‘brutalizer / brutalizer 2’ (so good it shows up twice) - ‘match point’ (the apex of an instantaneously classic motif, and only half as engaging as the climax to which it backdrops!)

when i was in middle school i read this book and the main character listened exclusively to movie soundtracks because it makes them feel like they’re in a movie and that one really struck a chord within me and i’ve been a movie/tv/video game soundtrack devotee since, here are some favorites: -moonlight -if beale street could talk -fantastic mr.fox -the place between the pines -arrival -the goldfinch -the imitation game -little ms sunshine -amnesia: a machine for pigs -arrival -the leftovers -nocturnal animals -succession -the shape of water also drop recs if you have them🙏🙏
