Great dive bar that's been around forever. I lived down the street for years when i was in college and did not appreciate it! The slightly older late 20s/30s that hung out there at the time hated me and all my friends for turning 21 and being a mess in there. It wasn't until I left and came back that i realized what had been right there in front of me. Youth wasted yet again. Anyway, they have some 600 whiskies and similar number of beers. They have a ton of special casks that disteraries make just for them. Incredible punk filled jukebox. Iconic. Be sure to have Malört at some point, there or elsewhere, do not google it, just do it. The River Architecture boat tour is a classic if it's warm enough. MCA and Art Institute are both worth a visit as well.

Classic old dive, but like really old, from the 1800's - used to be a speakeasy.

I have been working in this neighborhood for SIX years at [redacted art school] and just went here for the first time. It is 132 years old. That math is pathetic ! much time to make up for. this place is a treasure if you like things like observing the oldest dumbwaiter in NYC, tin ceilings, and old stained glass and wood. The women’s bathroom still has little makeup stations with mirrors and tables. It‘s very charming. I’ve also heard something about the urinals but will need a counterpart to report back. The food and drink don’t matter to me. A beer is a beer everywhere. It was fine. Go for everything else.

4 dollar beers, blaring post punk & punk music, and a fake Chicago themed interior. What more could you wish for in a dive bar.

Some music journalists put together a list of 1001 albums to hear before you die, they've revised it a few times in the decades since it came out. Someone made a website that randomly generates a new album from that list every day (you can google the list to get a little taste). You can set up a group and the people in it all get generated the same album. I have a small group of friends who have become very dedicated to the practice. It's nice to have just a little pressure to finally sit down and listen to some of the all time classics. It's really great when it's a day that's an album you already love. And it's an interesting mental exercise to listen to an album that you really don't like (somehow this doesnt seem to have effected my spotify algo too much) Whenever we're together we end up discussing the most recent ones. It's been a nice addition to my life individually, and i was pleasantly surprised to see how often we end up talking about them when we're together.

An aggregate search for vintage clothes. Pulls from Ebay, Etsy, Real Real, Poshmark, Grailed, possibly others, but i see those the most frequently. All through one search, one website (there's an app as well). The filters work well and you can set alerts. It's amazing.
