My current addiction. It’s kind of like a slot machine but you can get better at winning. There’s something about how distilled this game is. No narrative or world building, just the pure game mechanic and the tight rougelite gameplay loop. Kinda mathy because you need to do some multiplication in your head to figure out if your hand is gonna create a big enough score, but I’m very sucked in trying to make the ultimate broken combination of cards/jokers. Scores potentially can get so big they need to be represented with scientific notation. I haven’t played too many other card builder games, though I did love Inscryption.

I like really abstract board games like chess or go. The rules are usually simple and the fun is in repetition and unlocking patterns in strategy. Quoridor checks all the boxes for me

Card: -The Mind - card game where you act as One Mind and silently try to arrange cards numbered 1-100 w/o speaking. very quick simple and bonding Other: -name that tune - find a random “guess the song” playlist on Spotify, hit shuffle, keep score!!! Video Games: -return of the obra dinn - maybe the best video game of all time, you solve the deaths of everyone on board a ghost ship. Super collaborative, actually stunning, perfect to play in a weekend! -unraveled two - you play two little guys made of yarn who are tied together and help each other get over obstacles. Made me cry!

You trusted someone with your money or your heart or both, and then that person surprises you by fucking you over. fuck! This sucks a lot and might mess you up pretty bad and make you lose faith in people, but on the other side there is the potential for new found strength as you now have *experience*. Trusting people is such an essential thing, so after getting scammed when you eventually find ways to trust people again, you’ll do it with a better sense of who to give it to and how much to give and when. That’s a powerful thing, and not easy to understand until you’ve been burned. Keep trusting, keep getting burned, but hopefully a little less so each time.
