"The gut" is our second brain & in constant communication with the brain we more commonly know & love. It produces the majority of our happy hormones like dopamine & serotonin. Specific strains of good bacteria build empathy. The healthier my gut is, the healthier my mind is, & the easier it becomes to literally trust my gut. Very cool.

Healing is a beautiful thing. It relieves you. Like taking a great big shit. You just feel lighter and so much better. But unlike a great big shit, you feel wiser and closer to yourself. 10/10 stars EMDR & The Body Keeps The Score

While your anxiety could definitely stem from trauma or childhood, you can’t go wrong with learning somatic healing. Talk therapy can help with the rest. Combating anxious thoughts is a huge part of it, but it’s not complete without tuning into your body. It can be helpful to dig into why those specific people are making you feel anxious, and target those underlying thoughts and feelings. There’s a possibility they just suck and your body is alerting you of that 🤷‍♀️ Anxiety is our amygdala alerting us of danger. In the modern world, that can get trigged by things that aren’t actually dangerous. Deep breaths work because in actual danger we naturally do not breathe deeply. It signals to our brain to be calm. Everyone’s why for anxiety is going to be personal to them, although not always different. Finding ways to activate your vagus nerve can help you enter into a relaxed state more often. I’m a put an ice pack on my chest, deep breathe with my legs up the wall, and maybe throw on a guided mediation gal myself. You’ll find what works, try things out.

At the end of each year I make a "predictions" list for the next. I used to work in trend forecasting, but only share this on my tiny private account for fun. I love tracking patterns across pop culture, which is generally categorized as brain rot. I find pop culture to be a pure resource for tracking anthropological trends & patterns. This is a great hobby. I have favorite paparazzi pictures like when Hillary Duff was proposed to & immediately went in for what looked like a blow job. That's a great one. Jonah Hill holding his iced coffee lid as the actual cup of coffee falls to the ground, also great & relatable. Similarly to reality TV, having an appreciation for pop culture in general deserves more credit.

I will argue that swimming is the best form of exercise. It's also the most beautiful form of leisure.

I often think about how early the Shazaam techonology came out in the scheme of cool apps & how mysterious the technology still is to me. How does it even work? Haven't googled it, but one of my juiciest pleasures in life is when I hear a car drive by playing a cool song, I quickly try to shazaam it, & it works! Have you ever made your friends sing into it & hope it guesses the right song?
