if you struggle to get all your nutrition from eating food, are in a period of depression, are a heavy drug user, or otherwise generally feel like shit physically, your day to day quality of life will almost certainly be drastically improved by taking a simple multivitamin. more energy, better focus, better mood, better sleep, better immune system, and all kinds of other health benefits by just eating a couple gummies or taking a pill daily. if you have poor nutrition or other health problems, taking vitamins is one of the best things you can do for yourself in terms of effort / benefit ratio. I don’t recommend relying on them but you gotta get your nutrients somehow.

im taking my vitamins consistently for the first time ever (slow release iron, magnesium, vitamin D, b-complex) and while the horrors of PNW seasonal depression are still upon us i have never been weathering the storm so well. if you spend like 20 hours a day in bed in the winter or black out every time you stand up like i used to, this is for you

i’m addicted. ive actually overdosed on vitamins (yes, really)  and i still take them hehe. i love that theres a seemly endless list of them and their uses. feel like ripping all ur skin off? take an l-theanine or a magnesium glycinate. feel like your mental elasticity is that of a threadbare trampoline holding up an elephant? take some 5 htp and get some sleep. i love a cure all that doesnt involve changing your behavior or bad habits, dont you? and if you party as hard as i do make sure you’re popping one milk thistle daily.

Substack that emails you the entirety of Bram Stoker’s Dracula in real time. since the novel is composed of diary entries, it sends you the diary entries day by day so you can read it on the same timeline in which it takes place. it started earlier this month but it’s not too late to catch up!! or you could wait until next may. classics can be intimidating but this gives you the opportunity to read it in daily segments in your email and follow along in an immersive way :)

lots of great recs here, but if you want horror that is more based in storytelling and has a bit more on its mind than just slashers or gore you should check out folk horror or older horror films from the 60s/70s. as others have recommended, The Wicker Man (1973) is a must. Rosemary’s Baby (1968) is also a classic. The VVitch (2015) is also fantastic as an intro to more conceptual horror. you said you wanted deeper cuts, so check out Viy (1967) or Alucarda (1977), both of which i’ve posted more detailed recs for on my profile. also!!!! i don’t know how you feel about silent/b&w films but Nosferatu (1922) is an all-time genre mainstay that still holds up. Ari Aster’s work is great but it’s probably more gruesome than you’re looking for. have fun!!!
