am currently trying and will try to record more of life in 2025. whether it be through collecting receipts, jotting down an entry in a journal, recording a voice memo, or taking a simple video. i love looking at old video/photos and jounal entries to see what i did on a specific day. we always forget about the mundane

I am a pretty obsessive documenter. I seem to have bad memory, which got me into keeping record of things as much as i can. Iโ€™ll be taking photos on my iphone, videos on my camcorder (for onion vlogs i make every month), and i keep FOUR diaries with all different purposes. 1: sorta like a gratitude journal. Simple bullet points of things i โ€œliked, lacked, learned, longed forโ€ and thank yous. 2: a โ€œthrow upโ€ notebook where i throw up all my thoughts. 3: a simple scheduler thats a weekly format hobonichi. 4: an hourly day-to-day diary that i fill up retroactively to learn any patterns and habits. Kinda like self-research.

It's just fun writing about things that don't or won't matter and that you won't remember. Those things make up your life.

i know it's basic but keeping a daily journal has been one of the most grounding things in my life. you don't need to shell out $$$ on a travelers' notebook and a snazzy pen, but just repeating the daily act of physically writing your thoughts down is a wonderful thing. i keep a daily recollection/diary sort of thing along with a sort of freeform commonplace book where i jot down thoughts or lyric ideas or cool words i read and had to look up definitions of. it's nerd shit but the sort of positive affirming nerd shit that everyone needs at least a little bit of. also the amount of stuff you forget over the course of a week/month/year is astounding -- doing this is fun in part because you can read through your past entries (good and bad) again with fresh eyes.
