Major highlight of this year was my introduction to Holidays– in a crowded and sweaty bar basement for their single release party. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I listened to this album on the walk/ride home and then nonstop for a few weeks. Anyone who says that the NYC music scene is stagnant blah blah.. I’m staring them down, super-OH. YOU DON’T KNOW? *points to the Holidays sign*. Their self-titled debut record is one of the strongest of the year, start to finish so incredible. Emo in the truest sense. 1v1, Time Breaks Down, and Dog Song ended up as some of my 2024 absolute favorite tunes.

This is my favorite album of 2021 and there was A LOT of good music released this year IMO. Literally every song is a banger. Stallions and Dummo Loop are probs two of the best songs I have ever heard but literally all of them are good. There really hasn’t been a day that’s gone by where I haven’t listened to at least one of the tracks on this record since it was released. I’m lucky to know and call the three that make up this boyband my friends and am grateful I have gotten to experience some of the most demented (in the fun way) times of my life with them in the past few years (eZoo, holy shipwrecked in the DR, 2 weeks straight of shows without stopping, etc). For real tho, I just finished a small east coast tour with them and my other fave boy band, Anamanaguchi (who's album [USA] (2019) is also very much worth checking out) in October and the energy they brought every day and night to the van and the stage was inspiring and exciting. If u ever have the chance to see them do a live set or a DJ set I highly recommend u go. I’m a huuuge wavedash stan and u should be too!

Probably one of my favorite bands atm, it’s a perfect beach vibe while also being perfect foresty vibe. Current favorite album is Changes, gives me such a rush of nostalgia and pure joy. They are such an amazing band and feel like they deserve more recognition! Check out their newest album as well No Place Like Home, current favorite song on the track is Arizona! :)

speaking of solo concerts, i went to The Beths last night for the second time this year and wow, they are truly one of my favorite bands ever. Australian indie rock band with an incredible show both times. tight tight TIGHT band. danced my shit off, incredible guitar lines, the whole band sings backup vocals while they play, it’s unreal. feels like driving 95 down a highway or running as fast as you can until you fall straight into a body of water. feels like the most charming and poignant ways to sing about a breakup. feels like I LOVE LIVE MUSIC!!! ran into a friend at the show who told me they found The Beths through a playlist i made and got hooked. made my night. maybe you will be next

When the bar or venue or whatever is underground and you have to descend into the place because you can say some shit like “We are entering the seedy underbelly of this wicked city” “You know,” *cig drag* “crime is only a left-handed form of human endeavor.”
And then your friends can be like “Viv, you can’t smoke inside Dude also where the fuck did you find a pipe and a fedora What are you even saying” Giving you the opportunity to respond with a
“Beat it toots, you’re too pretty for these streets anyhow”
Then you remember your friend already offered to pay for the Uber XL home and you have like 11 bucks so you drop the bit but the sentiment is still there below the surface
