The beauty of documenting your life experiences through your speech and embracing how your voice sounds in that very moment is something I find so special. Our voices are instruments, what use are they if we don’t take delight in the sound of the very thing that forms meaningful connections. Voice journalling has made me so much more confident in my speech, how I sound, public speaking and expressing myself to those around me. It has helped me to be more interactive during conversations with friends, family and strangers. It has opened up the gate for meaningful friendships and closed the gate for social anxiety. I usually go back and listen to the growth of my voice and the small depletions of the insecurity and anxiety of my speech. It’s also a great way for me to document my thoughts when journalling through writing gets overwhelming. Have any of you all tried voice journalling?

This is so unique, I’ve never heard of this and totally wish I did years ago so I could’ve listened to the difference between then and now.

For me this has always come easiest while driving alone. It’s the only time I’m truly isolated. But under no circumstances will I ever go back and listen to those recordings. Just like regular journaling I get the thoughts out and try to leave them behind.

interesting!! i usually keep my journals on paper (sometimes digital), but it hasn't really occurred to me to try out voice journaling :o can't help but be a bit nervous around it, especially cuz i'm no native english speaker haha i bet it does feel encouraging to hear that nervousness melt away over time, though!! so it's an idea that i'll be happy to welcome :) do you use any recording software or do you just record straight into your phone?

fourleaf Heyyy!!! Glad to hear your experience 🤍. Reading that you aren’t an English speaker doesn’t change anything. You can speak with pride and love in your mother tongue when you create voice journals. Hearing the sound of your voice in your language will simply be artistic and meaningful. The first time it felt so weird but as time went by I found a sense of liberation from that nervousness and embraced every tone and pronunciation of my voice without needing to speak in a certain way but embrace the sound and tone of my voice :) I usually use my phone to record.

Onyi_Budds oh that sounds lovely!! what a nice way to build up confidence in speaking too - i'm assuming all that stuff is bound to follow if you just embrace what you do. i have lots of respect for people who could be that in tune with themselves, so i'll probably try it out haha :) definitely feeling super inspired now (although like the other commenter, i feel like i'll tend to avoid playing it back for a good while.. i gotta build up that tolerance to actually hear myself speak, aha)

fourleaf Thank you so much and I hope the experience is worthwhile. You can always go at a pace thats comfortable for you. Starting with 10 second voice journals to 5 minute long voice journals. Just have fun and be free with your expression. ❤️ It took me so much patience and effort to get to this point, but it’s been so liberating meeting and connecting with so many beautiful people that inspire me more.

Onyi_Budds it's no problem at all!! i'd like to thank you too for this :) earlier i actually caught myself talking out loud to.. myself to sort of "prepare" for voice journaling haha. i do like the idea of the small time frame!! i'll try to do just that and hope it helps! much love and many well wishes your way 💐

I’ve had a diary/journal ever since I was in 2nd grade (shoutouts to Amelia’s Notebook for sparking something in me). My journal is one of my most prized possessions. It’s my confidante, my source of inspiration, my friend. Journaling has always allowed me to unapologetically express myself. I’ve learned to embrace my voice through writing. I love when I read back on past journal entries and be like, ‘Damn I wrote this?! This is poetry.’

For those of you that hate journalling ✋ try recording video logs! Like literally just sit down for twenty minutes and talk. Can be about anything. Bonus points if it's something you don't think anybody cares about. I think a lot of us could use a positive outlet right now and for the last little while, this has been it for me! Really nice way of documenting all that you get up to, too. Life moves fast and it's easy to forget the little things

I journal nearly every day and it has changed my life. I feel like I know myself much more deeply and remember things better because of it. Sometimes I write many pages and other times just a few sentences. I like how it can be as silly or serious as I want and I like how it’s only for me.

During my quest of personal expression I have found a unique and meaningful way to be more comfortable with the sound of my voice and that is by reading out loud. At first it was weird and awkward to read to the four walls or prying ears but as time went on, I began to allow for my voice to take up space and to fill those anxious gaps inside of me. PS: I read out loud in the privacy of my home 😭 not out in public spaces.

with the rise of social media, it can be so easy to get sucked and pulled into someone else’s aesthetic or outlook. i have found inspiration from going within and seeing what i genuinely like when it comes to art, fashion, interior design and so much more. the results were shocking but it comes to show how much i really am a maximalist at heart :) what are some of your favourite interior design styles?

Connecting to the sound of music. With every fibre in your being you find true freedom when you allow yourself to live through that moment. Dancing connects me to my body in ways I could never imagine. When I am dancing I am simply uniting with my heart and releasing any tension in my body. How does dancing impact your life?
